I just got into watching the new Doctor Who series, from the UK, and I am absolutely obsessed with it now! It’s “Fantastic(tm Nine)”! Been watching episodes at quicksilverscreen.com (all but last 3 episodes are available there), Google Video, and youTube.
The show (which has returned as the longest-running sci-fi tv series in the world) is about the mysterious time-traveller known only as “The Doctor” and his dangerous adventures through space & time, and it is all at once thrilling, fun, funny, imaginative, creepy & frightening, cheesy, sweet, romantic, sad, hopeful, brilliant, etc., w/ great stories & great acting, and ALWAYS entertaining and just plain awesome.
I was tearing up at the end of the 1st season (or Series, as the Brits call it) finale, “Parting of the Ways”, but I was sobbing by the end of the 2nd season finale, “Doomsday.” And I mean blubbering mess, with the runny nose and puffy eyes and all. The Wall of Angst! The Beach! SOO TRAGIC! WHHYYY!!! And I kept watching the last scenes & still cried each time. I even cried just reading the TWoP recap! (Series 3 doesn’t air in the UK for a few more months, so no idea when I’ll get to see it in the US. Looking forward to more of The Doctor, but sad b/c of Rose)
Favorite Show Worlds collide tonight with Christopher Eccleston (the 9th Doctor) continuing his guest starring role on Heroes as Claude, the Invisible Man/Peter Petrelli’s mentor. I actually got into watching Doctor Who b/c I had vaguely known CE was “Doctor Who” and that people really loved him in that role, but really didn’t know much about it and was curious. SO glad I decided to watch! Love him as The Doctor’s 9th incarnation, love David Tennant (yes, Barty Crouch, Jr. from Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire,!) as The Doctor’s 10th incarnation, and Billie Piper as the lovely Rose.
BTW, Ten is the H-O-T-T-ness with the skinny-boy GeekChic. With the best hair. Evidence:
Now I’m also starting to watch the spinoff Torchwood with Captain Jack Harkness(b/c? um, yummy!–>). Which, by the way, surprised me w/ how much more darker & grittier it is than Doctor Who.
Lastly, excited about tonight’s Heroes!
So I got a new computer! Yay, loving it. It’s an HP Pavilion dv6000 w/ Core 2 Duo. Its got twice the amount of space that my old one has, at 120GB. Good thing, since I was running out of space on my old one. Its also got a built-in mic & webcam. Got it on sale at CompUSA.
Been moving my files and stuff from my old computer onto this one, configuring all my settings, etc. Now I have to figure out how to move my 3000+ songs from my iTunes library. But that computer still shuts down and the Blue Screen of Death pops up. Grrr, very annoying. Tried scanning it, updating stuff, deleting stuff. Nothing. When I turn it back on, it says it has recovered from a serious error, and when it reports to the Microsoft website, it says it has no idea what’s wrong with it.
Just one more week until the new Heroes! Cannot wait! And also, new Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls (Christopher better be on his way OUT! Missing the Lorelai/Luke dynamic), etc. Golden Globes was just on. Alas, no wins for The Office or Heroes, oh well.
Also just one more week until I have to go back to class. Break went by way too fast. Did nothing I said I would. No piano, no exercise. I was sick for about a week after Christmas, then afterwards, did absolutely nothing. Slept in way too late. Stayed up way too late. What’s new. Then tried to figure out what was wrong with my computer for awhile. Then got this one on Friday, been setting it up. Yep, exciting, huh.
I hate my computer right now! It keeps shutting down on me. I really want to get a new one, and soon.
Hmm…first post. Already have too many blogs/journals/websites. (Freewebs, Myspace, Xanga, facebook, etc.) Oh well. I need a life.
It’s my birthday this Tuesday. I’ll be 22. Omigod, I’m SO old! I’m an actual adult. But I still feel like such a kid. Wow, it’s 4 o’clock in the morning and I am up for no reason.
